Questions have been brought up asking about public use, possession and other public-related concerns over the legal use of medical marijuana. The number one question asked is “Can marijuana be used in public.” The answer is no and those attending community events or enjoying public areas of their community may want to avoid smoking marijuana.

Consumption

Though retail marijuana is legal to purchase it is only intended for private use. This means that it cannot be used in an open or public area. Private use means it is consumed in a person’s home or other locations that are not accessible to the public.

Those cities where retail marijuana is legal, it is possible to purchase marijuana from a licensed retail store. These retail stores can sell marijuana to those age 21 and older without a medical marijuana card. Once purchased, the marijuana must be taken home or to a private location.
